We may not have brought home to coveted award, but we felt like winners after our charity was shortlisted to the final four outstanding charities from over 500 nominations.
Recognising our community impact as a small charity, the shortlisting noted our work with over 150 individuals in 2023 and showcased the successes of our participants in both competitive and therapeutic endeavours. Our equestrian vaulting team became Scottish National Para Champions at the Scottish Equestrian Vaulting championships, going on to become RDA UK's Virtual National Champions in the autumn. Meanwhile 3 of our riders became RDA Scottish Dressage Champions, 2 on their first competitive outing.
Alongside these national sporting achievements, Equi-Power diversified existing educational and therapeutic services, responding to post-pandemic community need. We launched new initiatives supporting refugees, dementia clients and teenage mental health, and we worked with local schools, care homes and local authority and private referrals to offer opportunities for disabled people to increase their activity levels, make friends, improve their mental and physical health and boost their confidence.
Our incredible volunteers donated 1847 hours of their time to support our services in 2023, 80 hours of which were provided by people with disabilities themselves. Our community reach extended to offering 2 undergraduate degree placements and 1 post-graduate placement, alongside being Duke of Edinburgh and Saltire Award providers for young people.
We are hugely proud of everyone's achievements and were thrilled to be shortlisted and to highlight the work of RDA groups nationwide!
Donating can help us keep running our services, take care of the horses & keep delivering amazing experiences
