Mental Health / wellbeing Support with Equine Facilitated learning

EFL sessions are run by facilitators who have completed ACCPH approved professional qualifications and combine coaching, discussion, reflection and observation with mindful, relaxing, ground based activities with a horse. EFL activities invite exploration of personal goals, anxieties, behaviours and challenges. EFL can improve mood, build confidence, reduce anxiety, help with exploring stressors, assist in positive goal setting, with exploring identity, with emotional regulation and with feelings of being stuck.  EFL provides a safe, calming space to find ways to look after your wellbeing, and activities are tailored to allow you to grow in self-awareness with the help of a horse. Delivered in partnership with Forth Valley RDA near Dollar, ask about our school's services for teens with life limiting anxiety, our young carer support, our corporate wellbeing services and contact us for individual self-referrals.

equestrian vaulting

Equestrian vaulting (gymnastics on horseback) is fantastic for core strength, balance, coordination, teamwork, supporting communication skills and having fun! From our Sauchenford base we offer 4 weekly blocks of group sessions to primary schools for 3-6 children with additional support needs, and a weekly vaulting club where young people can attend therapeutically, with the opportunity to compete in BEV and RDA competitions. Suitable for children and young people who can take part in small group activities with support, participant weight limit is 10 stone (63kg).

dementia services

Join us for Tea with a Pony, a nationwide RDA dementia support initiative inviting individuals living with dementia and their family member or carer to spend purposeful, joyful, therapeutic time with our horses. Watch part of an RDA session together, enjoy tea and cake then spend one to one calming time with our gentle equines. Open to individual and care home enquiries. Based in Sauchenford near Plean.

horse care & STable management

Caring for our horses is a full time and rewarding activity supporting practical skills development, learning, coordination, teamwork, perseverance, responsibility and communication skills. Join us and work toward RDA Horse Care Awards, Endeavour awards and Saltire and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. We welcome high school groups of 3-6 pupils for 4 week blocks of educational activity and run a fortnightly horse care club for post school age adults to enjoy social time with horses.  Follow us on Facebook for school holiday horse care session dates at our Sauchenford base.

VOLUNTEERING

We couldn't run our sessions without the support of our dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteering is a rewarding and enjoyable way to spend time with horses and people, give something back to the community and learn new skills. The minimum age is 12 years old, and volunteer hours count towards Saltire and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. We have a variety of volunteer roles available, from helping to deliver our various activities to fundraising, with training provided along the way. Experience with horses is always helpful but a friendly manner and enthusiasm are just as important! If you are interested in volunteering with Equi-Power, please download a form here.
